Jamie Waylett - Vincent Crabbe

About Jamie

James Waylett was born in 1989 and lives in West Hampstead. He is lucky to have the part of Crabbe - in fact, he's lucky to be alive after he cheated death in a horrific road accident. He now attends Hampstead School in Westbere Road, West Hampstead. This is the incredible story, which ends in him being plucked from over 80,000 hopefuls to appear in Harry Potter.

Jamie's Story

Jamie was reading the Harry Potter books at school when some one of his friends told him that there was going to be a Harry Potter movie. Jamie asked him when it was asked but his friend told him that it hadn't even been filmed yet! Talent scouts from the Susie Figgis Casting Agency visited his primary school, Emmanuel in Mill Lane, West Hampstead. They picked out four pupils, spoke to them and took some polaroids of them. Warner Brothers then told his Headmistress that they wanted to see him again and several auditions later he had the part as Crabbe!

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone

Jamie's favourite scene in the movie was the Halloween scene in the Great Hall. The tables in the hall were very low and only came up to around Jamie's knee-height so that when he had to jump up and run he kept banging his knees on the table, (which hurt). The scene took about 5 takes because Crabbe and Goyle kept failing to escape from the table!

The Premiere and the Press

Jamie had a busy time between the filming of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. When the preview audiences emerged from his local cinema in West Hampstead they found Jamie waiting to autograph posters. Jamie also enjoyed the Philosophers Stone premiere. He told his local newspaper that, although it was scary, he thought that it was brilliant walking upto the cinema with everyone shouting his name.
